Laura Devine is a Shareholder at Boyle| Shaughnessy Law. Admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont, Laura primarily practices in the Boston, Manchester, and Woodstock offices.
Laura has extensive experience assisting private and public clients in all aspects of civil litigation in both state and federal courts, from pre-suit matters, through discovery, motion practice, dispositive motions, mediation, trials, post-trial motions, and appeals. Laura’s appellate experience includes the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the New Hampshire Supreme Court, and the First Circuit.
Recently, Laura spent time in public service working at the New Hampshire Department of Justice, where she was appointed by Governor Sununu to be an Assistant Attorney General. In that role, Laura had the opportunity to exclusively represent New Hampshire state agencies and employees sued in their official capacity in civil matters. Additionally, Laura managed the defense of a class action through the class certification stage.
Laura’s practice is concentrated in litigation, trucking liability, transportation-related accidents, premises liability, product liability, construction accidents, employment, municipal issues, medical and legal malpractice, class actions, professional negligence, bad faith claims, education claims, and other complex matters.
Laura has successfully defended clients at trial and in various forms of alternative dispute resolution including arbitrations, mediations, and judicial settlement conferences.
Laura received her Juris Doctor from Northeastern University School of Law, where she was a member of the Law Journal and served as a Teaching Assistant for Constitutional Law and Criminal Law courses. Laura graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Arts Magna Cum Laude in history and business minor. As an undergraduate she was a member of the Honors Program, studied in Australia at Bond University for a semester, and spent a year as a member of the rowing team.
Outside of the firm, Laura is on the Board of Directors for Special Olympics New Hampshire, Board of Directors of the Charles C. Doe American Inns of Court, and the Steering Committee for the New Hampshire Bar Association Leadership Academy.
Laura lives on the Seacoast with her husband, two children, and golden retriever.
